About The Artist

Art and history have always been subjects of passion for me. They were my major and minor during college. It has been a natural progression to blend the two themes into my art work. I look at my work as traditional art, representing the heritage of our past.

The past has always held a certain romance for me. The struggle of our forefathers to build a nation and defend it, the fashion in which they lived and worked, the charm of the tools and utilitarian wear, and their respect or the land. I hope my art reflects the spirit of our past, and the heritage we have been given.

I was born in England as an army baby. When my folks returned to the states I spent my childhood in the Finger Lakes region of western New York state. It was there I developed a deep respect for history and nature. I spent most of the time outside in the woods where I would imagine events unfolding from our local history. I also rendered many drawings and paintings based on the countries landscape and nature.

During college the nation celebrated its Bicentennial. I developed an interest in living history and reenacting during this period. I have been active in many reenacting units: French and Indian War, Revolutionary War, Civil War, and World War II. These experiences have greatly influenced my art. I was drawn into these time periods and learned many things which reflect authenticity into my work. I began to collect clothing and uniforms, props to draw and paint from, and a collection of early American stoneware.

My art has taken me all over the country displaying my work at various shows. Many of my older pencil drawings were used as cover art for the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Associations' magazine Muzzle Blasts. You can view the newer painting used as the cover art within this website.

The painting medium I use is acrylics on board, or on canvas. I find this medium very durable and long lasting. My black and white work is rendered in pencil on acid free Bristol board. All work is original and has a copyright.

I am married to my wife Janet, and we have two children, our son Andrew, and daughter Jayni Lynn. We enjoy the outdoors, travel, and simply being together as a family. I am active in the Boy Scouts of America, and teach muzzle loading safety.  I also enjoy collecting military vehicles.

I hope you enjoy this website of my art work.
