The Ambush
Moving into the wilderness was a dangerous venture during the French and Indian War. The main roads into the interior were the rivers and streams. They would empty eventually into the Great Lakes or into the Ohio. These areas were ripe for the picking. Abundant game, trapping, and free land drew many men into the uncharted wilderness. But the native people and their French allies were not overly happy with these adventures. Many treaties tried to stop the encroachment but it would continue. Even an ambush could not stop the flow.
