British Paratrooper
During World War I the airplane made it’s introduction into the modern era of warfare. In just over 20 years the airplane developed into a mechanical marvel. It was capable of transporting equipment, dropping tons of bombs on enemy positions, strafing columns of men and machines on the ground, and delivering via parachute, men behind enemy lines or into strategic positions. In this pencil drawing we see what a typical World War II British paratrooper looked like and the equipment he carried. The Denison frock sets him apart from the other branches for the British military. His Sten submachine gun is at the ready as he moves through a war torn area in search of his objective.
