Canada Goose Skies

The autumn skies of America were once covered with migratory waterfowl. Their annual southern migration routes were a haven for hunters who could feed their families for sometime on a nice fat Canada Goose. In this painting the geese are coming in to rest and forage on an Ohio lake. In the background the wooded hills are in their full autumn hue. A log cabin is nestled on the shore among the woods, as the Canada "honkers" land on the opposite side. They will forage for food and take rest in the field before they begin the rest of their long migratory journey. Canada Geese are probably my favorite waterfowl to paint due to their size and simple colors. They are a true symbol of autumn.
