Hickory Nuts and Stoneware
I have always loved to eat hickory nuts. Growing up, I always will remember my Grandpa having big burlap bags full of them in the barn. We use to crack them with a huge bench vise. They have a great odor you can't forget, and a taste not like any other nut. I picked these nuts up on a trip to see my folks in Ohio last fall and incorporated them into this large painting. The stoneware is from my personal collection and I just arranged the composition in my studio and painted it. I have a real love of old stoneware which you can see in almost all of my work. This was a great painting to work on and detail. I hope you enjoy the large format.
