Share Cropper's Cabin
This rustic clapboard cabin comes from Michigan. It was owned by a sharecropper who worked the farm for the landowner who in-turn gave him and his family the cabin to live in and a small percentage of the crops. It was not a very glamorous life and the sharecropper very rarely prospered. In this painting the fall harvest is indicated by the pumpkins and the foliage in the background. A scarecrow stands guard over the field. The quaint rocking chair and weathered porch railings add a touch of rustic charm to this setting.
